Welcome to Upendo Friends School

Upendo Friends School, founded and owned by Mrs. Isabella Daniel Mwampamba and Mr. Daniel Amon Mwampamba, is a vibrant learning community located in Arusha, Tanzania. With a shared vision to provide holistic and high-quality education, the founders established the school to nurture children who excel academically and in their talents, while upholding discipline, integrity, and respect.

The school combines the Tanzanian National Curriculum with strong co-curricular and talent development programs. This ensures that pupils are not only prepared for NECTA examinations, where they perform with excellence, but are also equipped with life skills, creativity, and leadership abilities.

At Upendo Friends School, every child is viewed as unique and gifted. Through the dedication of qualified teachers, supportive parents, and the inspiring leadership of the founders, pupils are given opportunities to shine both inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond academics

Learners actively engage in sports, music, drama, debates, and community service, making them well-rounded individuals ready to impact society positively

✨ Guided by the motto:

“Academic and Talents Excellence”, Upendo Friends School continues to grow as a center of learning, innovation, and character development under the visionary leadership of Mrs. Isabella Daniel Mwampamba and Mr. Daniel Amon Mwampamba.

Founder’s Story

Isabella Mwampamba

School Director / Proprietor

In 2004, while browsing the internet from her home in Arusha, Tanzania, Isabella Mwampamba met Melchie Tonog, a young woman from the Philippines struggling to pay her college fees at Mountain View College. Melchie’s story, backed by documents and heartfelt honesty, moved Isabella deeply. She and her husband Daniel made a bold decision: they sent $200 to help Melchie continue her education—money that came from forfeiting Isabella’s annual leave vacation.

That moment planted a seed.

Isabella realized that Melchie’s story wasn’t unique. Across Tanzania, countless children—bright, capable, full of promise—were being held back by poverty. She knew she couldn’t help every child abroad, but she could start at home. “Charity begins at home,” she reminded herself. And so, the vision for Upendo Friends School was born: an English-medium primary school dedicated to providing quality education to orphaned and marginalized children in Tanzania.

In June 2006, Isabella and Daniel registered a charitable organization called Love For All Tanzanians. With just two wooden classrooms outside their home and one dedicated teacher, they began teaching eight children. That same year, they made another sacrifice: they chose not to send their daughter Karin to an expensive private school, and didn’t buy new clothes for the entire year—redirecting every shilling toward the school’s survival.

By January 2007, their own house had been transformed into three small classrooms. Upendo Friends School became more than a project—it became a mission. A place where children from disadvantaged backgrounds could dream, learn, and grow.

Isabella’s long-term vision is bold and transformative: to support these children all the way to university, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and become changemakers in their own communities.

She describes herself as a dynamic woman—driven by passion, creativity, and an unshakable commitment to excellence. With over a decade of experience in child development and microfinance, Isabella blends professional expertise with a mother’s heart. She is a wife to Daniel Amon Mwampamba and a proud mother to three daughters: Karin, Catherine, and Caroline.

Her philosophy is simple but profound:

“Success is not how much wealth I accumulate, but how I use my time, talents, and resources to help others in need.”

Upendo Friends School stands today as a living testament to that belief. A school built on love, sacrifice, and the unwavering conviction that every child deserves a chance.
